Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The food was excellent and the service is great. The bartender how're was one of the rudest servers you can get. I was borderline thinking about telling management about her but I decided not to.

It's a good restaurant inside a beautiful house, the atmosphere is classy but not stuffy. This was my mothers favorite restaurant so I've got a lot of fond memories of this restaurant. For this reason, the Back Porch is PACKED on Mother's Day, you'll need to make reservations a few weeks in advance and weather permitting I do recommend you sit on the porch. The food is good, I feel like it used to be a lot better but it is still very good. I used to always order the Chicken Chartiers. Not sure if it is still on the menu but if it is it has my seal of approval. the food is quite good, the atmosphere is great, and I believe there was an Entertainment Book coupon (I could be wrong), so I recommend trying it out. And then take Grandma here for her next birthday, this place is perfect for that!

Lovely, picturesque spot with very good food, attentive service and pleasant atmosphere. The locals like it and we did too.

Great spot, great ambiance, great service, outstanding food! It's hidden below the highway bridge on the riverfront - trust your GPS and you may end up on the wrong end of a dark street. Pay attention & look for the brick building - you'll be there. Great experience.

My fiance picked me up from work on a Friday night and told me he had a surprise. The surprise was an amazing dinner at the Back Porch. It is out of the way, but well worth the drive. When we pulled up, I saw that it was in an old brick house with a lot of character. My kind of place! We were seated in the upstairs dining room (but had the choice of three locations). Upstairs was intimate with about 6 or 8 tables total, an old brick fireplace, windows and fun and nostalgic decor. There regular menu had an amazing selection as did their specials menu. The first thing I tried was the harvest soup and it was so good, I jokingly asked the server if they had the recipe. They did! Apparently so many people asked that they had it printed on post cards featuring an image of the restaurant. My fiance had the cheese soup which was also very tasty. I had the New Zeland Lamb Rakka. The sauce and seasoning were to die for. It was the perfect blend of cinnamon and nutmeg finished off with goat cheese. It was so good I was tempted to lick the plate. My fiance had the cowboy steak and was equally pleased. The portion was so large, he even had to request a take out. The desserts were amazing, too. In fact, it would be worth a trip to this restaurant just for the desserts! I had a trio of the homemade ice creams and he had a red velvet cheescake cake. With exquisite service, tasty food and a cozy and romantic atmosphere, I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a special night out (or even just a really tasty meal).

So this restaurant certainly lives up to its billing as charming and pretty good food and top notch service. I so wish there was a way the following comment could be privately directed to management but that option is not available. The ambiance was just about ruined by the overbearingly loud voice of our waitress. We could hear her "blasting" away at each table she served. There wasn't anyone to complain to when we left because she actually was the one to bid us a good evening. A good experience could have been much better.

Back Porch just plain rocks.. Ask for a table in "Andy's Hideaway" for a special evening!

Went tonight for our first time, everything was great. Atmosphere, check. Food, check. Waiter was very good, just the right amount of attention but allowed space for a very nice date night with my wife. Will be going back and soon. Try the Kailua cheese cake perfect finish to a great night!

The Back Porch may take a little effort to find, but it is very worthwhile. I recommend it for a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary. It is in a very old house built in 1806 near the Monongahela River. It has inside dining rooms and seating on the back porch and on the front porch. There is also a smaller more casual restaurant on the side of the house by the parking lot. The food is excellent as is the service. It has a full bar. The desserts are wonderful too and include a good selection of homemade ice creams and a tray of other options. I highly recommend this wonderful place about an hour drive south of Pittsburgh, east of Washington, PA via I-70. Don't rely totally on your GPS to get you there. If you do you may end up in Upper Belle Vernon (exit 42), rather than lower Belle Vernon (exit 40). Also, note that it is located at 114 Speers Street, not Speer Street, which is in Upper Belle Vernon. My wife and I had a wonderful evening there celebrating our anniversary after we finally found it!

I'm biased because i have worked here before and have nothing but good things to say. first of all, it has been a Restaurant since circa 1979, which says a lot. as a server there, you are trained to know everything. your water glass will never be less than half full, your waiter will know 6-8 specials, fast service, great atmosphere, with high quality food. typical American continental...filet, lobster tail, cioppino, scallops, fish, prime rib, lamb chops, etc. the restaurant is an old house with 3 floors, and a sun porch. has great lobster bisque. great desserts. is located 30 miles south of the city so its a nice place to if you wanna take a little hour drive.

It would have been nice to know how really long the trip from Oakland would be! It took very much over an hour, almost two, but, yes, the GPS failed us. Just one hour to get home! But worth it??? Absolutely!! Everything was wonderful and I very strongly recommend this wonderful gem!

Found this gem on our way from Columbus, Ohio to Easton, PA. Food and service were excellent. The steak was great, as were the apps. Wide range of menu prices, which was also a nice surprise. Just off the highway down by the river, it's a great way to break up a drive. We loved the historic look and feel. Highly recommend this place and make sure u request the downstairs bar.

Better on the more recent visit. I like this place, just wish they would work on being more consistent. The harvest soup was especially noteworthy. Our server was very professional.

Charming place and the food is wonderful and all with a somewhat unique location. However, the man downside to the restaurant is that it is not all food allergy friendly so if someone in your party has a gluten or other allergy, unless they are content with a bland steak and virtually no options, you might want to look elsewhere.

I love this place...It's an old house that they've turned into a restaurant years ago. There's a lot of rooms, so it sort of helps keep the noise level down. Great atmosphere, they've managed to combine the history of the house with rustic country charm in a brillant way. The food is amazing, the service is too. It's definitly a place we go mainly for special occassions, since it's a little pricey, but it's never a disappointing. Well worth the money & the drive if you have one. HIGHLY recommend!

Had a dinner meeting here-and everything was very good- once we found it! As mentioned by other reviewers, GPS takes you down the wrong way- but if you go at night, just look for the large Sycamore ( I believe!) tree all lit up and you can't miss it. Our party all agreed that the food was very good, but I would not say exceptional- except for the Artichoke appetizer with was done to perfection. The service was quick and attentive and the dessert tray is not to be missed- the chocolate cheesecake/mousse cake was delicious! My only real complaint is the close proximity of the tables. This restaurant is best suited for couples having a romantic dinner- it was difficult to have a dinner meeting here without feeling like we were being overheard and interfering with our fellow diners meals.

Incredibly professional and warm, accommodating service, interesting history with tasteful and intriguing period decor, nice selection for all palettes, with a generous list of specials. Decent wine list (more "blends", please), outstanding deserts - highly recommended - a wonderful experience!

Very cute little restaurant in a small riverside historic district just off I-70. Not sure what 'franchaise' is, but the Artichokes Franchaise were delicious.

The service is utterly terrible!!!! We were seated at a table in the center of the main floor, in sight of the many servers that walked right past us. They never even acknowledged us. We didn't even get a glass of water!!! The hostess never made sure that we were taken care of. Just rude people work there. After 45 min of sitting there with nothing, we walked out. Total waste of time!!!!! Will never go back.

We went there for dinner on our way out to New Jersey at the suggestion of the Holiday Inn Express. Excellent service, food and atmosphere. I complemented the chef by way of the waiter on his superb potato soup. A few minutes later the waiter returned with a hand written list of ingredients so I can make it at home! My husband and I would go back there in a heartbeat!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
